Tonight I realized that childhood dream of mine of watching Transformers: The Movie in a theater. It almost didn’t happen, though!
Durham is a terrible town. It’s worse than Raleigh in that they make it very easy for you to get lost. I arrived at the right block in time, but took 25 minutes before I could navigate around to the right point to enter the parking complex. The show was scheduled to start at 7:30pm and I didn’t make it to the box office until 7:45!
The good news is that they had plenty of pre-show stuff on the front stage and I walked into the theater just as the lights began to dim.
All in all, it was a fantastic night. I never thought I’d experience that again.

The Japanese PSN has new downloadable content for Prinny: Can I really be the hero? on PSP. It’s a new level, priced at about $3.30. This excites me since I put in a pre-order for the North American release of the game. At the same time, with the money I’ve shelled out for the game itself, I hope they can offer a better deal than $3 for a single new level. I’d say 99 cents might be more fair.
Also today, my Omi Gibson interview was published. Unfortunately (or fortunately?), the editors published it five days ahead of schedule. Whoops. It’s all good, though. I sent Omi a note, to which I’m curious to see if she comments or sends any kind of feedback.

Today’s the day of the big game! Well, for me that doesn’t necessarily mean football.
My family’s annual Superbowl ritual consists of my folks downstairs actually watching the game, while my sister and I chill upstairs with some DVDs and video games. What bonds our two groups together is the incredible spread of snacks that my mom puts together for the entire evening.
Because this is a special occasion, my sister and I try to make more of the situation than simply playing games together. We’ll experiment, like when I tried playing Darkstalkers with a DDR pad. (FYI, I made it to the third stage on Easy mode!) I have no idea what we’ll come up with for tonight.

I got the response to my interview questions from Omi Gibson today. I’m very excited and happy to hear from her. I tried my best to not be star struck. Ironically, she appears to be a very normal person outside of the cosplay scene. Just another desk worker, much like myself. Today, I cleaned up the English in some of her answers and put on the finishing touches to the rest of the article.
It will be a few weeks before the interview is published at GotGame.com. I gotta make sure that the first article of the column gets up ASAP, then I have another article that needs to be up within the first week of February.

A couple years ago, I did an online radio show for the Team Sportscast Network called Alpha Counter (much like the name of my blog here). One of the things I’d hoped to do for the show is to get interviews with interesting people that have a presence in gaming culture, but aren’t the usual corporate figures.
My first attempt was with Asia Carrera, former porn star and self-proclaimed gamer. I managed to get her contact information, but her only response was “I’m sorry, I don’t do porn anymore.” I could understand, but it wasn’t really relevant to my interview request.
My next attempt was an Australian girl who was a passionate cosplayer and fan of Cammy (which we had in common). She replied that she’d love to, except that she’s deaf and that wouldn’t work too well for a radio show. Touché.
Today I finally hit paydirt! For my new column, Robot Punch, over at GotGame.com, I’ll be conducting an interview with my absolute favorite cosplay model, Omi Gibson. She agreed to do the interview and I sent out my list of questions. Now I just have to wait for her answers.
I’m so excited!

This year I plan to get serious about writing online. It’s something that I just have to do every day. It’s the one piece of advice that I keep hearing from professional writers, but don’t quite heed as much as I should. Using this blog will be a healthy exercise for me. If for no other purpose than to organize my thoughts for larger articles.
I need to start talking with my friends more often. I’m an introvert by nature, but I’ve found that life in isolation–regardless of how much you may read on a subject–isn’t healthy for the brainstorming process. A person needs regular exposure to new ideas. Otherwise the well of discussion material runs dry pretty quick.
